If it were not, you'd be shopping a retail bridal chain, content to hopefully find something you like in what mass production has to offer. Because you are here, you have determined that your event, or perhaps even you yourself, are too special for ordinary. And you are taking charge. I offer a special service. There is something very unique about the person who hires a seamstress. It says alot about you as a person. It says you believe you are special, and you are! You've decided to treat yourself, and you shoud! Bravo! Having a dress custom made just for you is a very luxurious feeling, and I applaud you. Together, you and I will make something beautiful. Something just for you. I have been sewing for 40 years, and professionally for 20. Ten years were spent sewing for other large companies, and about 8 years ago I discovered Ebay. Through Ebay I was able to explore the field of historic gowns, try my own designs and ideas. Through much trial and error, I discovered that only certain designs lend themselves well to mail order, Some gowns require such tailoring that an excellent fit is only possible if the client is available for fittings. It's just that simple. I've tested designs, then redesigned, then tested again. So many times! The result being that all of the designs offered through my site are what I call "fit friendly". In some way, each of them allow a bit of leeway. Some lace up the front or back, and can be tightened or loosened if needed. Some are free form, and are fit with roping- there are many different components, but with only a few exceptions, all the designs allow for a bit of adjustment. For the first few years, I operated with 2-4 people helping. Training helpers was expensive and time consuming. As they've come and gone I have not replaced them. I decided that I preferred to work alone. More orders filled did not generate enough money in the long run to make it worth the added worry and stress. I no longer have the anxiety of wether a helper will follow through on the work I give them, or if their work will meet my standards. I work now only with a family member whom I can trust and depend on absolutely. I take only the work that I am sure we can complete within the given timeframe. We do NOT sit in a room and sew each garment by hand! Believe it or not, many people think that because they've ordered a custom made gown, that it will in some way be remarkable in it's construction. Not true. We use modern machinery, industrial machinery in fact, and the seams and construction of the garments reflect this. It would be insane for me to do something the hard way when it would in NO WAY improve, may in fact diminish the quality of the garment. What IS remarkable about a gown you order from me is it's design, my own -or perhaps your own, I've done alot of work for customers who've designed their own gown, just need someone to sew it. Either way, it's a special piece, made just for you, by your own measurements. You will certainly have a piece of work that you could NEVER walk in and buy off the rack. That is what you are paying for, and that is what will be delivered. You can certainly buy a dress for much less if you shop around. Certainly bridal shops often offer Chinese imports that I couldn't even buy the fabric for the price they can sell you the completed garment. But it will not be exactly what you want, exactly in your size, in every way to your own specifications. But you already know thist! That's why you're here.
